Mission
The Department presently seeks to train students for B.Sc. Degree in Geology. The Department also offers the M.Sc. Degree and PhD Degree in Applied Geology. These programmes have been carefully designed to prepare the graduates for a broad choice of careers in industry, government, teaching further postgraduate work and research. They can even be able to set up private consultancies. Accordingly, students are expected to have gained sufficient expertise in the disciplines chosen. The programmes are designed to enable students develop skills in mineral exploration, petroleum geology, environmental geology, hydrogeology and applied aspects of geophysics. Through their interactions with their Departmental Associations the students are encouraged to get involved with other relevant and similar associations through which their leadership qualities are enhanced as they study in very friendly atmosphere with their peer under the supervision of the Lecturers.
