Mission
The Department presently seeks to train students for the B.Sc. Degree in Environmental Science and the M.ScDegree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NaREM). These programmes have been carefully designed to prepare the graduates for a broad choice of careers in industry, government, teaching, further postgraduate work and research. They can even be able to set up private consultancies and individual companies. Accordingly, students are expected to have gained sufficient expertise in the disciplines chosen. Students doing Environmental Science are exposed to specialised knowledge on the evolution of plants and animal life on earth throughout geologic and historic times which is esential for the understanding of the dynamics the present ecosystems and for the predictions of environmental conditions in the future. Through their interactions with their Departmental Associations the students are encouraged to get involved with other relevant and similar associations through which their leadership qualities are enhanced as they study in a very friendly atmosphere with their peers under the supervision of the Lecturers.
