ENV709: Current topics in Forest and Marine Ecosystems Management 6 credits (40-10-10)

Objectives

To enable students gain knowledge and understanding on the principles of wildlife and plant and marine/fresh water ecology in relation to various end uses and sustainability.

Contents

Population dynamics in Forest, wildlife and fisheries exploitation, sustainability and rural poverty reduction; Forest, wildlife and fisheries economics and community base benefit sharing; resources renewal, habitat reconstruction, and stabilization; population distribution patterns, measurements and sampling techniques; environmental protection and conservation / management systems; Classification and characteristics of various ecosystems and resources thereof; Oceanography; stratification and special distribution of global Biodiversity; adaptationtion of ecosystems to environmental changes; Modeling and prediction of changes that affects Forest, wildlife and fisheries ecosystems functionalities; marine and fresh water exploitation, conservation, preservation and management. Ecosystems services and its contribution to sustainable development.
