Objectives

To train students on the theory/practice and use of various advanced scientific and socio-economic techniques in Natural Resources and Environmental Management.

Contents

Advanced scientific and socio-economic/cultural techniques use in environmental assessment (OD interventions, RAAS, PIM, PCM, RRA, PRA, AAS); Advanced land surveying and mensuration; Development of management plans for protected areas and the buffer zone concept; Current advances in chemical techniques for air, soils, and ground and surface water evaluation. Advanced assessment techniques in Wildlife and Plants Ecological studies. Design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation programmes for protected areas. Advanced computer base methods for socio-economic, cultural anthropological, marine/fresh water quality assessment techniques. Water hydraulics; Ecopave methods for ecosystem evaluation, Development of an M & E system. Principles and practice of forest Measuration/ground truthing techniques. Basics methods in mineral exploration; Advance laboratory methods for soil and water factor analysis.
