Objectives

To study aspects of engineering geology and the physical environment such as landslides, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes.

Contents

Ground investigations and engineering geology of soils and rocks. Design and execution of ground investigations, the recording of data, the assessment and implication of such data for the costs and benefits of further investigations. Formation, accumulation and geotechnical characters of soils. Applications of geology, geologic techniques and geologic reasoning. Environmental concerns of society, analysis of environmental objectives of private and public sectors, evaluation of natural hazards, industrial waste induced hazards, multidisciplinary studies and preparation of environmental impact statements. Case studies and field visits.
