Objectives
This course aims at training students in the theory of instrumentation, applications and interpretation of data from the various geophysical methods of exploration together with the basic principles of surveying useful in geology and geophysics.
Contents
Geophysical survey methods, design of instruments and their applications. The theory and applications of Electrical methods. Resistivity, Self Potential, Induced Polarisation, Electro-Magnetic, Telluric and Magnetotelluric methods. The theory, data acquisition, data processing and interpretation using the Magnetic, Gravity, Seismic Refraction and Seismic Reflection Survey methods. Well-logging. An appraisal of geophysical surveys. Basic principles, instrumentation and field procedures of surveying.
