Objectives
The course aims at examining the application of various concepts in geology in the search for ore and industrial mineral deposits.
Contents
Magmatic, hydrothermal, volcanic, stratiform and sedimentary types of mineral deposits in relation to the time-space framework and factors significant to exploration. Study of exploration and mining geology methods: mapping, geophysics, remote sensing, exploration geochemistry, fluid inclusion studies and diamond drilling. Technical, geological and economic aspects of exploration programme design and property evaluation procedures. Statistical techniques in exploration programmes. Case studies
