Admission Requirements

To be admitted into the B.Sc. Botany programme, applicants must have the G.C.E. O/Level in at least five papers including English language and Mathematics; and the G.C.E. A/Level in two papers in either Biology or Botany plus one other science subject, preferably Chemistry.

Objectives

The Botany Programme has been conceived

  • To provide balanced and rigorous training in pure and applied aspects of Plant Biology, strengthened and supplemented with a Professional Minor in Horticulture and ancillary service courses from sister Departments in the Faculty of Science.
  • To produce versatile and adequately equipped graduates for career opportunities in the public and private sectors and self-employment.

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for graduation, a student must satisfy all of the following conditions

  • Earn at least 180 GPA Credits
  • Pass in all prescribed courses
  • Score a cumulative GPA of at least2.0 on a scale of4.0.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of Botany can be self-employed or find employment in the public and private sectors in such areas as teaching and research, agriculture, service industries, forestry, and biodiversity and conservation biology projects, environment, among many others.
