ENV701: Advanced Topics in Research Methods, Statistics and Computer Applications 6 credits (40-5-15)

Objectives

To equip students with advanced skills in research proposals development and the utilisation of computer packages for data analysis in Natural Resource and Environmental Management.

Contents

Development and design of appropriate research templates and tools that fit into logical frame works of national and international research grants platforms. Review of the main streams of parametric statistical methods with focus on graphical displays, numerical descriptors, probability and hypothesis testing. Review of nonparametric models with focus on regression and correlation models, index number series and forecasting. The use of computer as a tool in statistics/applications. Exploratory data analysis and application techniques in Minitap, R-package, SPSS, SAS and advance excel. Computer software acquisition and designated protocols.
