To introduce the fundamentals of chemical thermodynamics (First, Second and Third Laws) under such topics as: States of a system; Probability and entropy; Statistical calculations of thermodynamic free energy; Helmholtz Free Energy and the Equation of State.

The phenomenological thermodynamic state functions; Probability and entropy; configurations; entropy and the third law of thermodynamics; The Boltzmann distribution law; the partition function; translational motions; internal motions; The Free Energy function.
