Admission Requirements

A minimum good Second class (Lower Division) B.Sc. degree in Botany, Biology or any other relevant Biological discipline.

Objectives

The M.Sc. programme in Botany is intended

  • To deepen knowledge and skills acquired in the discipline at the undergraduate level with particular emphasis on applied aspects of the course.
  • To produce more functional graduates or high-level manpower for careers/positions in the public and private sectors, and self employment.

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for graduation, a student must satisfy all of the following conditions:

  • Earn at least 120 GPA credits
  • Pass in all prescribed courses including a successful project report defense.
  • Score a cumulative GPA of at least2.0 on a scale of4.0.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates with a M.Sc. degree in Botany can be self-employed or find high-level employment in the public/private sectors in such areas as teaching and research, agriculture, industries, forestry and biodiversity and conservation biology, among many others. Many of them may hold managerial and/or decision-making positions in these areas.
