To provide students with a focus on distributed operating system.
Contents
Overview of single-processor Operating Systems (OS), operating system issues and case studies of distributed operating systems. Kernels, e.g. Mach, Chorus, Distributed; shared memory; CORBA; Time in distributed systems; Distributed snapshots and synchronization; Process groups study and practical experience of some distributed operating systems; Naming, protection and security; Authentification and case studies of known distributed operating system such as Kerberos etc.
