Objectives

To provide knowledge on how Information Technology (IT) applications at the functional level of an organization can be used to address many of the technological and managerial challenges of operating in local and global business environment.

Strategic planning and master plans; productivity paradox; cost-benefit analysis; Harnessing Information Technology (IT) at the organizational and national levels for attaining and sustaining strategic advantage; intra-organizational and inter-organizational aspects; information systems (IS) lifestyle and implementation; IT-enabled organisational design; IT/IS outsourcing; Electronic data interchange (EDI); Integrated services digital network (ISDN); satellite and other broad-band communication technologies; distributed database systems; e-commerce, Case studies that illustrate the successes and failures of cross-cultural IS applications and the technical and managerial issues pertaining to the strategic use of global information system will be presented.
