Objectives

The course will give the Basic definitions and concepts of host parasite relationships.

Contents

Symbiosis, interactions of Symbionts, phoresis (phoresy); commensalism, mutualism, parasitism. Definition based on foraging/metabolic dependency, definition based on habitat preferences, definition based on degree of harm, kinds of parasites, kinds of Hosts, reservoir hosts, zoononosis, zooanthroponosis, anthropozoonosis, hyperparasitism; types of life cycle, protozoan parasites; helminth parasite, vectors of parasite.
