Clinical Laboratory Entrepreneurship and Management 6 Credits (40-20-0)

Objectives To enable students know about ethics, law and professional issues,explore the nature of human communication and the role of the lab technologist in maintaining effective communication and management of a clinical laboratory.

A. Professional ethics

• Morality and Ethics: Norms, Deviances, Religion, Values, Beliefs, Cultures

• Bioethics

• Moral Development

• Ethical Principles: Autonomy, Freedom, Privacy, Confidentiality, Beneficence, Fidelity, Motivation, Justice, Veracity and Responsibility.

• Code of Ethics to medical laboratory technologists:

• Application of Ethics to Practice: Respect For Life And Death, The Concept Of Dignity, Human Rights, Rights of The Child, Rights of The Elderly, Patients Rights

• Ethical Decision Making Frameworks and their Application

• Context and Conflicts with Bioethical Standards

B. Introduction to Law and Fundamental Rights

1. Law

• Sources of law

• Law and enabling Acts (text of application)

• The concept of legal personality

• Civil responsibility (contract, TORT)

• Criminal responsibility

• The court and their jurisdictions

• Labor law: formation and execution of labor contract, remuneration, condition of work, obligation of the employer and employee, termination of labor contracts

• Law and texts of application governing clinical laboratory medicine in Cameroon
