Objectives

To provide students with elementary mathematical techniques required for handling problems in the life sciences.

Contents

Real-valued functions of a real variable; Circular (trigonometric); logarithmic; exponential; hyperbolic functions and their inverses; Polynomial and rational functions; Partial Fractions; Complex Numbers; Derivatives and Algebraic properties of differentiation; Applications of the derivative; L’ Hospital’s Rule; Taylor Polynomials; Integration and Methods of Integration; Applications of the Integral; Improper Integrals; Infinite sequences and series; Tests of convergence.

This course is not available for credits to Mathematics and Physics Majors.

Advanced Level Mathematics or equivalent
