Objectives
To introduce the student to the theory and operational features of selected analytical instruments with a view to obtaining data that may be acceptable from such measuring devices.

Analytical methods; instrumental methods; instruments for analysis; selecting an instrumental method; calibration of instrumental methods; Electrical components and circuits; operational amplifiers in chemical instrumentation; digital electronics and microcomputers; signal-to-noise ratio; Introduction to spectrometric methods; components of optical instruments; introduction to optical atomic spectrometry; atomic absorption and atomic fluorescence spectrometry, atomic emission spectrometry; introduction to molecular spectroscopy including uv/visible absorption spectrometry, molecular luminescence, infrared spectrometry, Raman spectroscopy, and molecular mass spectrometry.
