PAR407: Molecular Biology of Parasite | 6 credits (40-10-10) |
Objectives
The course will introduce students to the molecules necessary for the transmission of information in the living organisms and will expose them to the information transfer within cell.
Contents
DNA and RNA composition and structure, protein composition and structure, DNA replication, recombination and repair; RNA transcription and RNA processing, protein synthesis; transcription and posttranslational modifications; recombinant DNA technology; regulation of gene expression. For each topic, specificities from parasitic organisms will be highlighted with the comparison with the situation in the host.
