Objectives

To study the physico-chemical features of marine and freshwater environments and assess the productivity of inland and marine waters.

Contents

General ecology of the marine environment including the physical and chemical parameters; marine fishes and their spatial distribution; taxonomy of fresh water and marine fish species (especially the marine fishes of Cameroon) and their economic importance; physical and chemical parameters of the fresh water environment; planktons and benthos; primary and secondary production; allochthonous production in inland water; man-made lakes and the effects of pollution; food and feeding habits of fish; identification of gut contents; age; growth; reproduction, breeding and life cycles; fish pathology; prey-predator relationships; population studies; recruitment and mortality.
