Objectives

To study the microscopic structure of tissues and organ systems of vertebrates.

Contents

Introduction to the microscopic structure of the major organ systems of the vertebrate body; study of the epithelial, connective, muscular and nervous tissues; structural and functional relationships between cells and tissues in organs; comparative histology of the circulatory, nervous, digestive, integumentary, respiratory, excretory, reproductive, endocrine and sensory systems of vertebrates; laboratory exercises will include the study of prepared slides and of microtechniques; practice on standard methods of microscopic slide preparation.
