Objectives

To provide theoretical knowledge in understanding and interpreting water quality data; to equip learners with techniques and skills in assessing the quality of water from different sources and for different purposes.

Contents

Characterisation of water bodies, strategies for water quality assessment, selection of water quality variables, the use of particulate material, the use of biological material, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, groundwater, field testing methods; nutrients and water chemistry, responses of aquatic biota, standards for water quality control.
