PHY703: Advanced complex functional analysis 6 credits (40-20-0)

Objectives

To teach advanced notions of complex functional analysis that has direct applications to applied physics, nonlinear physics and the statistical physics of complex systems.

Contents

Complex variables, functions of complex variables: poles, singularities, limits, analyticity, continuity, complex plane analysis and analytical continuation; Series; Derivatives of functions of complex variables, integration and calculus of residues, P-value (Principal value). Conformal transformations, asymptotic properties of special functions of complex arguments, Riemann Gamma functions and its logarithms, Beta function, Poly Gamma functions.
