PHY701: Research procedure and communication skills 6 credits (60-0-0)

Objectives

To develop practices of identification, critical evaluation and resolution of research topics in Physics. Students will also learn basic methodology and communication techniques in carrying out physics research and seminar presentation. Introduction to most common operating systems and scientific soft wares such as Linux, Latex, Mathematica, slide, Prosper, etc. will be given.

Contents

The course will be organised in a seminar format. There is a first component of teaching, followed by long assignments to carry out using available computational soft ware facilities of the Department. These assignments involve presentations to an audience.
