To explore the various modern techniques on the subject of Monte Carlo methods in statistical physics.

Markov Chain Monte Carlo-statistical basis. Monte Carlo simulation of a classical gas; The Ising model: Mean field theory, energy-entropy arguments, Monte Carlo simulations, and universality. Simulation techniques: 2D arrays in c, etc; boundary conditions, queues, Fast Fourier transforms. Model systems: Exact solvable model system; Simple stochastic models (Disordered model systems): site percolation, random walk, self-organized criticality and complex networks.
