PHY607: SemiconductorPHYsics 6 credits (40-20-0)

Objectives

To equip students with an in-depth knowledge of the physical processes in Semiconductors, the PN junction and their applications. In addition the students recognize the basic parameters that severe the semiconductors from other substances. The emphasis is on the charge and energy transportation. The latest achievements in the field of organic and composed semiconductors and are described.

Contents

Elementary properties of semiconductors, Semiconductor statistic, Charge and energy transport in a nondegenerate electron gas, Carrier diffusion, Carrier scattering, Quantum effects in transport phenomena, Optical absorption and reflection, Photoconductivity, Light generation by semiconductors, Semiconductor heterojunctions, Surface properties of semiconductors, Molecular semiconductors.
