PAR303: Protozoan Parasite 6 credits (40-10-10)

Objectives

To provide basic knowledge on protozoa systematics, ecology, morphological characteristics and their role in diseases of animals and humans.

Contents

Protozoa are one-celled animals found worldwide in most habitats. Most species are free living, but all higher animals are infected with one or more species of protozoa. The course deals with the structure, morphology, classification, motility, nutrition, reproduction, and life cycle of protozoa. The diseases caused by protozoa (intestinal, blood and tissues protozoa), diagnosis, host range, vectors, epidemiology, transmission and control.
