Objectives

To describe environmental pollution and its effects to man and to discuss beneficial and pathogenic microbes in the environment as well as environmental risk assessment.

Types of pollution; pollutants; aero microbiology, terrestrial and aquatic microbiology; microbial transport; biogeochemical cycling and its consequences aquatic microbiology in relation to public health; microbiology of extreme environments; methods for analysis of environmental samples-(cultural, physiological, immunological and nucleic acid-based) environmental risk assessment.
