MBP604: Epidemiology and Aetiology of Infectious Diseases 6 credits (20-20-20)

Objectives

To enable students acquire knowledge in the basic designs that are used in etiologic studies and learn to describes how the findings from such studies may be used to estimate the risks of disease associated with specific exposures.

Estimating: association and potential for prevention; comparing cohort and case-study; from association to causation: deriving inferences from epidemiologic studies; bias, confounding and interaction; identifying the roles of genetic and environmental factors in disease causation
