GLY412: Engineering Geology 6 credits (10-30-12)

Objectives

The course examines the basic principles of engineering geology and slope stability in different geological terrains and under varying environmental conditions.

Contents

Geotechnical properties of soils, soil classification, the Atterberg limits, soil compaction and its permeability, stress conditions and shear strength of soil, as well as slope and dam stability under varying environmental conditions; the applications of such information in engineering problems and in environmental geology.
