Objectives

This course aims at introducing students to variation of physical quantities within the Earth and their bearing on major active zones of the Earth.

Contents

Principles of Earth Physics such as gravimetry, densities, temperatures and pressures within the Earth, oscillations of the Earth. Seismology in the study of the Earth’s structure, composition and physical properties. Tectonics, orogenesis and orogenic zones. Global tectonics - sea floor spreading - plate tectonics and continental margins. Cameroon in the tectonics of Africa.
