Objectives

To identify the tools and standard techniques of environmental assessment.

Contents

The course focuses on the operationalisation of EIA in the project cycle; Principles of development in evaluation, monitoring, auditing activities and information requirements including available computer techniques; The role of the local authorities and the public in EIA and methods of public participation and the development of participatory plans; Investigation of current methods and techniques of impact prediction through case studies including environmental impact in different ecosystems such as fresh water, forests, and urban areas; urban development strategies and today’s trends and structure; spatial and temporal considerations; Preparation of an EIA report and strategies for the review of EIA reports.
