To understand the analysis of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems using convolution, Fourier representations of signals and basic information theory.

Contents

Classification and properties of signals and systems; Discrete and continuous-time impulse response, convolution, differential and difference equations; Fourier representation of discrete and continuous-time signals; Frequency response of LTI systems, sampling and reconstruction, DFT; Z-transform; Introduction to filter design; Amplitude modulation; Angle modulation (FM and PM); Information, entropy, and Huffman codes.
