ELT403: Analogue Integrated circuits 6 credits (40-4-16)

Objectives

Ensure students are familiar with current and future applications of mixed-signal microelectronics, understand the analysis and design of basic MOSFET amplifier configurations and current mirrors, understand the analysis and design of MOSFET operational amplifiers, have an ability to design electronic circuits that meet certain performance specifications.

Contents

Introduction to mixed analog/digital microelectronics; operation of MOS transistors including large- and small-signal modeling; design of basic analog circuit building blocks using MOS transistors: simple amplifiers, differential pairs, current sources; Design of MOS operational amplifiers with emphasis on large-signal characteristics, analysis of open loop gain, frequency response; Frequency response of amplifiers; Feedback amplifiers, stability, and compensation.
