Objectives

To provide the student with an integrated understanding of recent advances in software agents, multi-agent systems, related technologies and their practical applications.

Contents

Introductory notions in artificial intelligence and distributed artificial intelligence; Agents: nature, types and architectures; Multi-agent systems: communication, cooperation, negotiations; applications of agents; biologically inspired approaches to multi-agent systems; social/organizational-inspired multi-agent systems; Multi-agent test beds (e.g., SWARM); Applications: e.g., business, networking, WWW; Related technologies: bioinformatics, agent-modelling, genetic algorithms, etc.; New developments in Agent technology.
