Objectives

To provide students with knowledge on how software tools may assist in better decision-making in strategic organisational management as well as in the choice of processes, products and resources.

Strategic management issues: planning and master plans, productivity paradox, cost-benefit analysis, organisational structure, sustaining strategic advantage; Harnessing available technology; governance and electronic governance issues, strategic IT planning; Decision support systems; decision analysis; analytical hierarchy process; Bayesian belief networks; balanced score cards; experimental design and analysis; rough set analysis; simulation and optimisation methods for strategic management decision-support; Case studies that reflect successes and failures of techniques studied.
