Objectives

To presents the different techniques used in remote sensing to recognise objects on earth in assorted application domains, including cartography and ecology.

Contents

Definition, importance, historical, and applications; Electromagnetic (EM) waves: types, EM spectrum, radiometry, black and grey bodies; Interaction of EM waves with the atmosphere and the earth’s surface; spectral signatures; Data acquisition through remote sensing: photography, radiometry and spectro-radiometry; imaging radiometry; Pre-processing of remotely sensed data: radiometric and geometric adjustments; image enhancement and interpretation; automatic pattern recognition; trends in the analysis of remotely sensed images.
