To acquire an integrated understanding of the basic principles and challenges involved in multi-agent systems.

Introduction: historical, introductory notions situating multi-agent systems (MAS) in artificial intelligence and distributed artificial intelligence; Principles of MAS: theoretical and philosophical foundations; notions of agency/agenthood, society, interactions and cooperation; States of artificial minds: mental states and intentionality, belief, rationality, etc.; MAS organisations, modelling of actions and behaviour; Communication, collaboration, coordination among agents. Application areas.
