To introduce students to the routine molecular and immunodiagnostic techniques.

Review of DNA, RNA structures and protein synthesis and structure, Genes, Inheritance and Genetic Disorders. Review of the functioning of the immune system. Review of parasite, bacteria and virus genetics and immunology.

Techniques in the extraction and manipulation of DNA or RNA from humans and microorganisms.

PCR and related techniques, Immunodiagnostic techniques and Flow Cytometry
