CHM701: Research and Communication Skills I 6 credits (40-10-10)

Objectives

To teach students how to analyze scientific data obtained from various sources and how to synthesize and communicate such information in a coherent manner to an audience with a scientific background. To teach the student how to write scientific reports for publication and provide the student with in-depth background knowledge of the subject selected for research leading to the doctoral thesis.

Contents

Review of the literature and sessions on how to write scientific papers. The student will review a published scientific paper and defend his/her views. The student will also prepare, using unpublished material obtained from his/her MSc thesis, a manuscript for publication in a journal following specifications provided by a leading journal in the discipline. This report will be submitted to the course master and reviewed.
