To introduce carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins and the biology of enzymes and coenzymes.

Structure, classification and functions of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids and proteins; Biology of enzymes and coenzymes; Plant – water relationships, diffusion and osmosis; Path of water and solutes in the plant; Phloem transport; Mineral nutrition; Photosynthesis, protein synthesis and synthesis of lipids; Respiration and photorespiration; Introduction to plant ecophysiology.
