Admission Requirements

A good M.Sc. Botany or Biology degree programme.

Objectives

To train specialists in various aspects of the discipline, capable of contributing to scientific knowledge through independent and collaborative research.

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for graduation, a student must satisfy all of the following conditions:

• Earn at least 180 GPA credits
• Pass in all prescribed courses including a successfully defended thesis based on a well-researched topic in the appropriate discipline, one which makes a significant contribution to knowledge in that area.
• Score a cumulative GPA of at least2.0 on a scale of4.0.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates with a Ph.D. Botany degree can be self-employed or find high-level employment in the public/private sectors in such areas as teaching and research, agriculture, industries, forestry and biodiversity and conservation biology, among many others. Many of them may hold managerial and/or decision-making positions in these areas.
