To give an in-depth knowledge of the different plant growth media and their preparation; and macro- and micropropagation of planting materials.

Contents

Aspects of compost and composting; growth/potting media for vegetable crops, fruits and potted plants; Nursery management: identification of nuclear and zygotic seedlings. Methods of growing container plants including supplemental and foliar feeding of ornamental plants; Hydroponics versus conventional horticultural techniques and practice; micropropagation/tissue culture techniques and clone maintenance; use of hormones in propagation by cuttings; techniques of grafting and budding fruit and plantation tree crops; Field management of vegetable gardens, fruit trees and plantation crops; Handling and preparation of harvested produce
