Objectives

To provide basic knowledge on the morphology, reproduction, taxonomy and economic importance of flowering plants.

Contents

Morphology and Taxonomy of seed plants; introduction to herbarium collection and preservation methods; The morphology and systematics of Gymnosperms; vegetative and reproductive features; general organography and anatomy of the vegetative sporophyte, structure and development of sporangia, gametangia and embryos; Study of selected families, their evolutionary significance, and economic importance; The morphology and systematics of Flowering plants including modes of pollination, reproduction, dispersal, and economic importance of selected families and genera.
