Objectives

To introduce concepts of wetlands as unique ecosystems, provide knowledge and skills in plant descriptions and classification, ecological characterisation and responses of plants to abiotic stress, and the economic contributions of wetlands.

Wetlands, functions and values, Temporary wetlands, freshwater wetlands, riparian, estuaries, marine wetlands, breeding grounds, mangrove ecosystems; bamboos and raphia grooves, invasive species, harmful algae, phytoplankton and fish production, wetlands as production sites, plant systematics, concepts of ecophysiology.
