Objectives
This course will introduce the student to the major classes of therapeutic agents, their mechanisms of actions, therapeutic indications and side effect profiles.
Contents
Classical organ/systems approach to pharmacology with a molecular treatment of therapeutic agents; understanding of mechanisms and interrelationships; Drug classes: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neuropsychiatric, endocrine and metabolic, hepatic, gastrointestinal, connective tissue and bone, hematologic, dermatologic and psychiatric; drug dependence, geriatrics, pediatrics and pharmacogenomics; a review of organ system physiology and dysfunction, symptomatology, clinical pathology and pharmacotherapy.
