Objectives

To explore the philosophy and practice of testing of materials and procedures of materials selection and process selection given service specifications, and the options available for materials recycling.

Contents

Testing for mechanical properties, microscopic characterisation, surface inspection, chemical physical and mechanical criteria for materials selection, standards for the designation and testing of materials; Recycling of metallic and non metallic materials; principles and practice for selected metallic and polymer-based materials; case studies on materials selection and experience with materials recycling.
