Objectives
To demonstrate the application of biochemical techniques in the diagnoses of diseases.
Contents
Basic instrumentation and instrumental analysis: Standardization and calibration; Safety in the clinical chemistry laboratory; work with body fluids and infectious organisms. Analysis of body fluid compositions: blood, urine, saliva, sweat, tears, cerebro-spinal fluid with indications of normal and pathologic values; Enzymes as probes for internal organs; Liver, kidney, heart function exploration tests; Molecular probes in Clinical diagnosis: antibody and gene probes; gene amplification, imuno-assays radiometric assays; Quality assurance and ethical issues; This is a practical course that will illustrate the most commonly used biochemical tests in a clinical laboratory.
