Objectives
To present the notions of algorithms and principles necessary for processing and interpreting digital images with the aid of computers. Focus is on interpreting satellite and aerial images obtained through remote sensing.
Contents
Definition and characteristics of images (texture, structure, shadow, etc.); digital images: structure, formats, characteristic, processing; input and display methods; Image convolution with a linear mask: principles and methods; Image classification methods; Radar images: types of antennae, effects (shadow, relief, etc.), noise and noise filters; Notions in radar interferometry; Image processing in remote sensing applications: e.g., forestry, town planning, geology.
