To introduce the current state-of-the–art, current trends and future expectations in the field of high speed networking with a focus on performance issues.

Contents

Overview of networking and computer communications; overview of current research in high speed networks; Multi-server high speed digital networks; Router, switch and network architectures Current Internet, the future Internet, wireless networks, optical networks, Asynchronous transfer mode, network traffic measurements; web server performance, mobile computing, diskless computing; Next-generation internet protocols and applications; Hardware, software design and implementation issues; user interaction design, development environments and content management; Impact and demand of societal demands and trends (e.g., social networking, security).
